MAKE WAY FOR DEBORAH ALFARO by Laurisa White Reyes Imagine a sultry night in Savannah. A pale moon spills its light across the ground like liquid silver. Arched notes of a melancholy jazz tune drift by, broad strokes of an audible painting. Such are the images Deborah Alfaro summons to mind. Rich and resonant, her voice throbs with languid emotion. Having trained with some of the top vocal and songwriting coaches in the music industry (including Leanne Summers, Jimmy Kachulis, Robin Frederick, and Pat Pattison) Alfaro is a gifted singer and songwriter. Alfaro’s distinctive style is both lush and lyrical, though she attributes some of her inspiration to such greats as Sarah McLachlan and Sting. Her experience in theater and world travel adds a subtle dimension to her compositions, weaving an intricate tapestry of sensitive vocals and earthy melodies. Talent like Deborah Alfaro doesn’t come along every day. Like those strains of jazz on a hot Savannah night, this newcomer to the music scene deserves to be heard. Laurisa White Reyes is an author and freelance writer whose work has appeared in such publications as Antelope Valley Press, The Signal, The Magazine of Santa Clarita, The Link, Santa Clarita Valley Living, and All About Kids. Her fantasy novel, The Rock of Ivanore, is available at www.lulu.com.
